Paolo Campoli leads the Service Provider Sector for the Cisco EMEAR region (Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia), one of Cisco’s largest and most dynamic markets and a key segment for the organisation overall. Paolo is responsible for transformative selling across Cisco’s largest customers, as well as driving segmentation, coverage and Cisco’s Service Provider sales strategy coherence in alignment with the Corporate investment portfolio. As former CTO of the Cisco SP Segment in EMEAR, Paolo was, and still is, actively engaged in driving the adoption of 5G, automation and Software Defined Networking in the Telco and ICT industries. Paolo is one of Cisco’s senior spokespeople at key Industry events and with Regulatory Bodies in the region.
Paolo joined Cisco from Siemens-Italtel in 1998 as a Consulting Engineer, before taking on a number of senior management positions including Senior Manager, Central Marketing for Cisco Europe, where he led the development and packaging of vertical industry solutions for the Enterprise market as well as triple play and Fibre to the Home solutions for Service Providers. Moving into Cisco’s Sales organisation as Director SP Business Development and Head of SP Architectural Play, and Regional CTO for EMEAR SP, Paolo drove the Telco vertical overlay sales segment for Cisco in European markets, responsibilities which subsequently expanded to cover both Europe and Emerging Markets as Head of the SP Architectural Play and Regional CTO for the EMEAR SP region.
More recently Paolo has led joint go-to-market and Product and Services sales as Global SP Sales Leader for Middle East and Africa, before taking the helm of Sales, Technical Operations and Channels for Global SP in South Europe, where key customers included TIM Group and other major SPs in Italy, Spain and Greece.
Paolo graduated in 1990 with full marks and honours (100/100 cum laude) as Doctor in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He holds a post-graduate Masters from the Cefriel institute for the first comprehensive mathematical modelling of ATM network traffic, under the mentorship of IEEE fellow, Professor Maurizio Decina.
